How to reach Assisi

By car

From Northern Italy
To reach Assisi by car starting from the north of Italy you can use two different roads. You can use the E14 Adriatica motorway (Bologna/Taranto), turn toward Cesena and go on toward Perugia with the E45 road until you see the exit for Assisi. Or you can take the A1 road, exit in Valdichiana, reaching Perugia and taking the E45 road to Cesena until Assisi

From Southern Italy
The same double route counts from Southern Italy. Take the A14 Adriatica motorway, exit in Civitanova Marche continuing toward Foligno – Perugia until reaching the exit for Assisi. For who decides to take the A1 road you can exit at Orte and continue on the E45 road toward Perugia – Cesena until the exit for Assisi.

By train

By train, the reference is the railway line Firenze – Terintola – Perugia – Foligno. When arriving in Assisi at the station of Santa Maria degli Angeli, to get from Santa Maria degli Angeli to Assisi you can take local buses (links to the city are possible with a bus service or with a taxi).

The international airport Saint Francis d’Assisi is 12 kilometres from Assisi. Its connected to the city with taxis and from Romes airport Leonardo da Vinci in Fiumicino there are transfers everyday using the SULGA bus company.
